romantic: 1:30AM secret installation of the new yoshimura carbon fiber exhaust

i started my bike this morning and noticed a significant difference in sound. i walked around to the other side of the bike thinking something broke only to find that brad secretly installed my new exhaust in the middle of the night. :) *swoon!*

some douche bag walks up and says...

DOOD: that's a nice bike!
ME: thanks!
DOOD: i didn't think a girl could ride a bike, but then saw you and you're a girl.
ME: uhh...ok?
DOOD: that's a nice bike!
ME: yah...you should get one!
DOOD: so what do you do?
ME: i'm an engineer.
DOOD: like a motorcycle engineer?
ME: no.
DOOD: do you work at microsoft?
ME: no.
DOOD: is your name ninja?
ME: no dood. that's the name of the bike.
DOOD: oh i thought the name was kawasaki.
ME: nope.

granted dood is foreign, but still. that was uber douche! i was done w/ the convo when it started, but couldn't get away fast enough b/c i was putting on my bike lock. gah!

BRAD GOT A GNAT IN HIS EYE

rode to sushi mara + around bellevue w/ our visors up. brad got a gnat in his eye. my bike stalled a couple times. idle was set too low. brad says the valves are too loose now so i gotta wait before i can ride it into the city. sux! but I can wait.

ps: got a text from k-fix saying sharon wrecked her bike + is in the ER right now. hope she is ok. :( scary stuff!

everything is black on black (at least all the fairings are w/ the exception of the tank + wheels). still rockin' the purple + teal tank + wheels, but i'm working on it (aka trying to convince brad just how whack the 1995 purple and teal really are). ick! gag...

MOTO-HO!

brad + i went for a ride today. we got dinner @ wendy's, drove to 7-11 for smokes + took the back roads to brad's house. so far i've learned i go too fast + follow too closely. woooooOOoOoOooOoo! brad says i gotta get some daylight rides in before i can get on the freeway. i'm skurrrrd!

THIS IS WHAT MY BIKE LOOKED LIKE THE PAST FEW WEEKS...

LYNWOOD CYCLEBARN REVIEW = POOR!

1) you guys charge me over the phone for my parts and tell me it'll arrive within 3-5 days
i call to check on the status since it's been 3-5 days...
2) you guys cant find my order even though you guys already charged my account
3) you guys also tell me that whom ever i spoke w/ was lying to me about stuff arriving within the 3-5 days and i was looking at something more like 7-10 days
my bf drops off my wheels so i can get my tires replaced...
4) you guys tell me you'll call me back to tell me the status of the order that you lost + never end up calling me back --- when you do find my order it's under the wrong name, "san fan", even though i told the guy "san juan, like the san juan islands" and he was like "ok got it" (btw the san juan islands are a prominent land mass found in the pacific northwest)
5) you guys tell me over the phone that installing my new tires on my wheels will cost $20/ea, but end up charging my bf $25/ea when he goes to pick them up after they finally arrive (which i had no knowledge of b/c no one called me!)
my bf can cut a chain, but can't rivet it...
6) he purchases a chain from you guys and asks you to cut + rivet it + you proceed to cut it sans riveting + end up charging him full-price for a half-ass job!

seriously, wtf! this is by far the worst service i've ever experienced dealing w/ motorcycle people. i expected a lot more out of you guys since this is my first bike. probably, most likely, never shopping @ lynwood cycle barn ever again!

ps: lynwood bent bike is the shit! someone inquired if there was anything he could help us find + proceeded to point out where we could find what we needed. he was super friendly too! i would def do biz w/ bent bike again.

UPDATE: i won! i won! a whopping $95 bux! wooOOooOo! considering the cheap-o brands at bent bike were going for $160, $95 (incl shipping) is a major score for a pair of dainese boots.

UPDATE: went leather pants shopping over the weekend and found out i'm way fatter than i originally convinced myself. bleh! if i want to fit into a size 6 i'm going to need to hit the gym 2x a day! fuck!

GUESS WHAT? I BOUGHT A MOTORCYCLE! WOOOOooOooOOoOoOOo!

i'm too lazy to get up and go outside to take a picture, but this is pretty much what it looks like:



we picked it up for $800! not bad, huh? runs great! at least around the block... it's a 1995 ninja 250. it's got cracks all over, but luckily all the damage seems cosmetic, nothing structural. it's a project bike that's for sure! just need a little TLC...

also, scored on some new pirelli mt75 tires for $127 front + back! woo! definitely take the time to shop around!

now all we need is a fiberglass repair kit, sandpaper, a couple cans of paint, replacement tail + turn lights and we're set! :)

MOTO-HO UPDATE...

so the bike down in federal way is so money, but we hit a little snag. the miles on the title + the miles on the bike don't match! dood bought it from an auction + is getting the title fixed monday, which means i'm going to need to make myself available monday to sign the title over to my name. grr! what a giant pain in the ass!
