"cross-thread violation on rb_gc" when calling watir-webdriver via irb

i googled "cross-thread violation on rb_gc" and came across a ton of posts that were related, but not quite what i was experiencing.  in fact, i didn't find a post addressing cross-thread errors when calling watir-webdriver via irb, but found this: http://carol-nichols.com/2010/12/bug-cross-thread-violation-on-rb_gc

i uninstalled json and tah-dah!  cross-thread errors are gone!  thanks carol!  hopefully, i won't need json anytime soon otherwise i might have just created an even bigger problem for myself.  heh!

UPDATE:
if you reinstall json it still works.  just tried calling watir-webdriver in irb w/out errors.  w00t!

weekend recap: kasper got lost @ marymoor park

below is a map of marymoor park to give you an idea of the daunting task of locating kasper after he took off running in the off-leash dog park. i walked the trails along the river and every single other trail looking for my little monster. we assumed he'd book it for the water, but he ended up going back to the parking lot and posting next to a volkswagon. what a smart little guy! too bad it was the wrong volkswagon! luckily, someone noticed him pacing in the parking lot and called us to let us know he would be hanging w/ the hot dog vendor until we could make our way to him. THANK YOU random, kind stranger for looking out for kas! you rock!
